Vestibular Dysfunction

Vestibular dysfunction may be an underlying cause of impairments in balance, coordination, postural control, and vision which may manifest as reading disorders in students. 85% of students with hearing loss may also have vestibular dysfunction.  As many as 67% of students with learning disabilities may have vestibular dysfunction. There are specific, objective methods to test for vestibular dysfunction. They are often cost prohibitive for independent schools.
